Yep, that's right, it's ScrapMatters 4th birthday, and we are celebrating with a HUGE blog train/scavenger hunt! I used our gorgeous new kit, Garden Party (free with $20.00 purchase!!!) to create a quick page for you. I kept it fairly simple...and I'm loving it, myself...I used it to scrap my beautiful neice at her third birthday party! Here's my page... (sorry if, for some reason, it doesn't work...I've had to upload it from photobucket...my file on my EHD is being wonky). Everything from the page (font included!) is from the Garden Party kit! It's awesome!

and here's the preview of your QP! Oh, and FYI, I layered it...so the element clusters are on one layer, there's a layer for the journaling, and the stacked paper is another layer. So it's very customizable...if you don't like my elements, leave them off, and just use the stacked paper! It also lets you slide the title under the elements if you want to...which I always seem to want to do on QPs, and never can, haha!

I've been a bit neglectful, haven't I? Gotta work on turning over (yet another) new leaf on my scrap blogging....

In the meantime, I found a new teaching blog I've started following...looks like it'll have some great resources and ideas to use...rock on! Hey everyone! Wow, can *you* believe it's November and iDSD already? I really can't!

So, the amazing ScrapMatters team is hosting a blog train (that's why you're here, right?), and we're showing off our amazing new Collab, Many Thanks. You know, I was talking with my oldest DD (she's 3) the other day about Thanksgiving, and she asked me what it was. I explained that it was a day for all of us to think about the things that make us feel special and loved, and the things that we love. She listed off a couple of things, like loving mommy and daddy, and then she said "And my Grandma Cookie loves me" (Grandma Cookie is *my* grandmother, her great-grandma). It was the sweetest thing. So we now have plans to make up a special card to send to Grandma Cookie for Thanksgiving...the funnier part? Aerin then says to me "We can just tell her on Facebook!". Oh, out of the mouths of babes! How to explain to her that Grandma Cookie doesn't use a computer? LOL! We've got plans to put it up anyway, because my auntie will see it, and pass the message along...So, anyway, I'm the cliched person who is ever so incredibly grateful for my family. Even more so, in a sad footnote, because I just lost my other grandmother, and I know how lucky I was to have her as a vibrant, sweet, loving part of my life for 33 years. So, cherish the family you have, give them big hugs and pass on your love to them throughout this season of the year!

Phew! Okay, so I stink at blogging...two months later, I'm back!!! Though there have been a few reasons for me being MIA...

First off, school started. And that always kills my energy, mojo, and time management skills for the first month or so. By 6 weeks in (next week) I'm usually feeling back up to par...so here's hoping!

Second, I found out right about the time of my last post that I'm expecting Baby #3 at the beginning of May. And, as I discovered when pregnant with #2, the first trimester totally kills my scrapbooking mojo. It didn't wreak as much havoc this time, but it sure put a dent in my scrapping...you know, going to bed at the same time as your children doesn't leave you much in the way of uninterrupted scrapping time! Anyway, I'm 11 weeks now, and starting to come out of the fog of first trimester...So...I'm starting to feel better, and more like my regular scrappy self! YAY!!!

Of course, just when I was starting to get myself moving again...our site went down, thanks to something nasty...not quite sure what, but Andrea and the admins at ScrapMatters made the decision to close down the site temporarily to be sure that nothing nasty was happening, and going to make anybody else "sick". We got a clean bill of health this afternoon, and the site is back up and running now...AND...just to make it up to y'all, because we know how much is stinks to be without your favorite digi-site, AND because we feel really bad if anyone got any nasty bugs from us...check it out...

Holy Cow!

So, I am super, duper, incredibly excited to share that ScrapMatters just had a super-quick site CT call...and I MADE THE TEAM (again)!!!! With over 100 applicants, that was no sure thing, so I am super stoked to get to create for the best store in digi-land for another six months!

Secondly, my "Holy Cow" was actually in reference to the sneak peeks I've had this week, as a member of SM's site CT, at the goodies that are coming out this Friday. Holy wah, as my Yooper BIL would say...they are incredible! I have been scrapping up a storm this week (seriously, I think I've done 6 layouts already!) and I am so inspired! So...yeah. So, birthdays rock, don't they? They're very interesting to me, now, with 2 little girls. Both of my girls have April birthdays (15 days apart), so celebrating their birthdays with family and friends is a bit more challenging now...separate parties, or together? It's hard to plan, especially with Easter in the mix as well! This year was our youngest's first birthday, and so it was the first time we had a blended birthday party...whew! Scrap With Your Stash!!!

Hey fellow ScrapMatters addicts...bad news...in case you haven't noticed, the ScrapMatters site is down right now, due to some leftover complications from our server move. We're working hard behind the scenes, and hope to be back up and running soon! Please know we're all going through withdrawal from our favorite scrap site, too!

So...here's what I started thinking last night...I was SO frustrated, because I just KNEW that there was some amazing goodness that was supposed to be released yesterday, and I wanted to scrap with it! And then I remembered...I had a kit I hadn't scrapped with yet! So I dug it out of my files, and scrapped my little heart out. Surely you, too, have something in your ScrapMatters stash you haven't used yet, or something you've only used once that is so chock full of goodness you just HAVE to use it again...so...take this store-free weekend as a challenge, and find something amazing that is already in your files and use it for the first time, or second, third, or fourth...

I'm heading for my stash right now...a rainy summer day....perfect for some scrapping!!!

Anyway, we'll be sure to let you know as soon as we are back up and running, but until then, have fun scrapping, so you all can flood our gallery as soon as we're back online!!!

New stuff

hey all, I'm back today to say a quick Hello, and share a couple layouts I'm actually pretty proud of-they're both outside my "comfort zone" so to speak, and I'm really happy with them both! (and, they're both using items that are new releases today at ScrapMatters!!!)

First off, I used Bella Gypsy's new At the Dropoff kit for a layout about my DD at the lake...

I've been loving layouts with the cutout circles, and I think they look pretty cool on this layout! Just the right punch of pattern, IMO.

and then, WM[Squared] has some great new templates out this week (next installment in her "inspired by" series), which I haven't used yet, and this fantastic alpha:

I used the brown version, and also recolored some of the letters for my title...Oh, and I used Wendy's awesome Teen Grunge kit for the rest of the fun stuff! I do a photoless layout here and there, but it's never been totally about the title/journaling to the extent that this one is...I love how it turned out...

I also thought the alpha really rocked for doing the dates...might use it more often for that!!! Anyway, I have two little girls eating lunch I need to go check on...here's hoping my kitchen's not too messy at this point! Okay, I don't know if I'm allowed to give you sneak peeks yet...but it IS technically Thursday here in my neck of the woods.

Oh my gosh. You WANT to be at ScrapMatters tomorrow. My mojo has been missing for nearly a month (I think iNSD did me in, LOL), but it came back this week for some amazing kits! I've already scrapped with something from LawTeeDa at ScrapMatters, and for the SM Design Team, AND for LDrag Designs...OH **AND** for Chelle's Creations...her new stuff this week is amazingly awesome! And I'm no where near done! I have things to scrap for WM[Squared], and for Happy Scrap Girl, Haynay, AND for Jenn Barrette! WOW.

So, I was looking at the new releases at ScrapMatters today (Being on the CT, I'm lucky enough to get sneak peeks at much of what's new, and the rest...well, I glanced at them yesterday, but was dog tired after a day at the children's museum with about a billion kids 6 and under), so when I was looking today, I saw Amber's (Stolen Moments) new blog wear...

...and I just kept thinking...hmmmm...I REALLY want some new blogwear. This (that I currently have) is cute...but I want something new...and I'd love to have something ScrapMatters, because, well, that's home to me.

and then....I saw it! Amber is doing CUSTOM blogwear! Holy cats! AND installing it! Even freaking better!!!! I am such an idiot when it comes to all of this! So to get to pick the Stolen Moments kit I want, AND have it installed for me? Dude. I would be in heaven.

wow. so, yeah. I'm doing some drooling, some browsing in Amber's AMAZING store, and some thinking about how exactly to afford this...

oh, and I guess I'll mention that I'm trying NOT to afford it, because Amber's running a contest, and the winner (who blogs about her blogwear) will WIN it. I didn't wanna tell you all, because...well...I wanna win!!!! And even if I don't, I'm sure gonna find myself a way to get some custom blogwear from Amber sooner than later! oh my...I never get to sit at work and be on the web! I'm in training today, and we're on our lunch...so here I am...dreaming about having my very OWN laptop instead of this RESD one...one with all my scrap supplies...I've got something GREAT waiting for me from WM[Squared], and something from Sarah Bennett too...sigh...

oh well...back to sorting student data. Try to make it back this weekend with some layouts...well...I hope. I didn't do so well last time, did I?

Dude...I've had soooo much going on the past couple weeks...professionally, personally...taken on a million things at work(school), issues with daycare (though I love my provider!), doctor's appointments, family "stuff" times about a million...yippee. I didn't scrap ONE single layout in the past 7 days. Thank goodness, today I finally got a couple things scrapped...I'll try to pop in tomorrow to share them, if I can find a second or two...

but seriously...go check out the new releases at SM...there is some cute cute cute stuff!!!

Ever had "one of those days"?

I am so having one today. Just feels like everything is stacked against me today. I know it's not, I know that I am very blessed, in more ways than I can count, but it's hard to recognize those blessings sometimes. Little junk gets in the way, mis-communications, irritations, people just being flat-out dumb and obnoxious.

don't you just love it when you ask for help at the beginning of a project, and no one wants to help you, but then they all think they have the right to chastise you for doing it wrong when you don't do something **exactly** the way they think you should have?

Yeah. that's my day today. Trying to figure out how to scrap this beast.

know what my facebook post was this morning? Asking if I could just go back to bed. Amazing how we know before we ever leave the house in the morning that it's a day we shouldn't even venture forth.

anyway...maybe I'd better try to think of some of my blessings and scrap those instead...scrap-vent or think happy thoughts? hmmm...

maybe I'll just eat a pound of chocolate instead...

Hello there!! And welcome to your next stop on the ScrapMatters [inter]National Scrapbooking Day blog train. This train has stops ALL OVER THE WORLD!!! You have probably just come from Tater's blog, and now you're here at my little home on the web, Becca's Paper View. I'm Becca, aka becca372, and I'm so excited to have you stop by!

Our iNSD mega-collab at SM this weekend is called "Moments that Matter" and the whole theme of our celebration is all about those moments in our lives that really matter. At each stop you'll find a story about a Moment that Matters along with a freebie!! There are TONS of stops on this blog train, so you can pick up a LOT of goodies!!

I have so many moments that really matter in my life...one has really been with me this month though. My grandfather's health had been declining pretty steadily through the past year, and we tried to make trips over to visit, but didn't always get there as often as we would have liked. At the end of March, he really wasn't doing well, but we had an opening where everyone in our family was actually healthy, so my parents, husband, and I took my kids over to visit. My grandpa was up and out of bed, sitting in his chair, and he seemed to enjoy our visit. He seemed to be in good spirits, smiling and laughing a bit at my little girls, reaching out to give my hand a squeeze as I walked by, which was something he always did to us, and, when it was time to leave, giving both of my little girls a kiss. That was really and truly his last night of feeling okay, of being out of bed. Within a few days, he was bed bound, and within less than a week, he had passed away. We lost him on April 3 of this year. One of the things that means the most to me right now is that he had those moments of happiness watching my girls, and that he was able to share his love with them, and that we were able to share our love with him, and make his last "good" night a good one. Those are definitely moments that matter to me. I still need to scrap that story...maybe getting it on to the page here will help me with the process of getting it on to a scrap page.

I created this layout with my freebie...at first glance, the story and layout may not seem to go together...but my wedding date is shared with my grandparents...they eloped on July 1, 1939. So my wedding day was their 67th wedding anniversary. So looking at my wedding pictures often makes me think of them.

I think I am the luckiest person ever. I am still on cloud 9 over being invited onto ScrapMatters store CT. I am in love with basically their whole store. The people there, the designers...yeah, it's just the best. And then I wish I could just scrap with everything new EVERY week! Guilt. It Sucks.

Well, not really scrap related, but I needed to vent, so...my bloggie it is!

I'm feeling guilty tonight over stuff I shouldn't feel guilty over. Stuff that is/was out of my control. Stuff that might not even be my fault. or that of my family, but I am shouldering the guilt anyway, which makes me mad. And that mix of mad and guilt is so stinking pleasant.

See, here's the deal. We went to my nephew's birthday party on Saturday. Everyone was fine. We all felt okay. Lots of kids, lots of strangers (well, lots of my sister's friends, who are basically strangers to us), none of whom any of us got particularly friendly with. Seriously. I had to practically force my nephew to hug me. Didn't hold my neice, and neither did my DH. And we sure as heck didn't touch the kids of the people we didn't know.

So, Sunday, DH didn't feel well. And Monday morning he felt HORRIBLE and went to the ER, where he was diagnosed with Influenza A. None of the rest of us are sick (yet?), and we are ALL now on Tamiflu. But I got on Facebook tonight to see this conversation:

Dude. I don't think it can be blamed on us. But I feel like it's all our fault. And I'm waiting for my sister to totally put all the blame on us. Nobody should have been exposed and have it incubate so quickly. AND all of those people have small children and should have had the seasonal flu shot. Of course, we should have as well, but with Lili being sick so often, I never felt like we had a good time to do hers, and then Aerin and I fell through the cracks too. So maybe they're just like us. And Brian infected them all. Or not.

it just makes me have this nasty knot of guilt in my stomach. ew ew ew.

Anyway. I guess I should go scrap this nasty feeling or something. Get some scrap therapy going. I think I need it.

If, for some reason, you still haven't signed up for Chelle's Creations AMAZING new class about journaling at ScrapMatters...you need to go do it! Yeah...it's an investment. But, having had a sneak peek, I can promise you...not only does the kit ROCK, but the class is going to be great!

I am NOT the best journaler...despite being able to fill a page up with words (sometimes), I struggle with getting my voice on the page, and with keeping myself on track...I'm a total rambler, in case you haven't noticed, LOL. So, I'm really looking forward to this class, and to learning to tell more of the story, better.

A New Year, A New Try

LOL, here I am with take three on my blog. Yep. Take three. Maybe this time I'll be a good little blogger. Who's a good little scrap blogger? (haha, if you're a Buffy fan, you get it). Well, not so much me, but one of my new year's resolutions is to be a better blogger!

You may have noticed (or not, since I don't have too many readers, lol) that some things have changed...I got a new set of blogwear...meant to switch it in the fall, to a great one by WM[Squared] and then life got crazy...and it's a little late for fall blogwear...but, hey, for any of you down under who are going to be heading into fall soon...she's got some darling Fall Blogwear!!! Anyway, I picked up this set at the Digichick, it's way cute! And super easy to use, too!

I've been roaming around at the Digichick (not one of my normal hang-outs, but a great store!), because I was just asked to be on the CT for Lil' Digi Bits by Jude. I know Jude through ScrapMatters, as well as through Sarah Bennett's ct...she's an awesome "chick", and I am excited to do some CT work for her! You can look for posts about her new releases mid-week...otherwise, you can plan on seeing me on Thursday/Friday for massive sneak peek and new release posts--Megan, Sarah, Chelle, and Wendy all release on Fridays...whew!

Anyway...ummmm...I'm trying to do Project 365 again this year. Only got to February last year, so...trying again. We'll see how it goes, and I'll try to post some weekly layouts here throughout the year. Wish me luck!

Okay, gotta go get some housework done, now that the blog is updated (and, hey, aren't my girls darling? They're getting so BIG!!!).

I'm so bummed that I'm not going to be able to make the chat (or the scrap, now that I think about it...being a teacher has it's drawbacks...AND I have an appointment that's been scheduled for about 3.5 months...ick).

ooooh, I've been a blog slacker this week...but in my defense, I'm back to my "real" job of teaching kindergarten, so I'm getting used to a new schedule, and a brand new group of kiddos, which is sucking all the energy right out of me! 22 4, 5, and 6 year olds can really kick your figurative booty.

Anyway...Chelle's got this awesome new kit out tomorrow....holy cow! It makes me want to go traveling, just so I can do the kit justice! Haha, I'm actually going to blog Sarah Bennett's new product today! It's so cool! Have you been seeing all those layouts out there with paper cut into swoops and waves and cool shapes like that? I have, and they look so cool...so I was super excited when Sarah showed us her paper template pack "The Wave". She's got some fun shapes in here, and they look so great all layered up on a page! I've made 2 pages already using them, and I'm sure I'll be making more soon!

Well, I'm here today (though a little later than planned), so that Sarah can't come through my laptop screen and kick my butt...She's got something awesome out today--a set of FAB "circles and squares" templates.

I have to admit...I used the same template TWICE this weekend. Which never happens, but it was soooo cute! The rest of the templates are on my "to-do" list, because they are fantastic too!

And I'll let you in on a little not-so-secret...one of the templates is based on a layout of mine! (heehee!! too cool!). So, here are my two layouts with the same template (lol) and the LO that inspired the template. click the image for credits. The first layout also showcases Sarah's gorgeous Backyard Friends kit, and the fun Scribbly Alpha 2.

And here's the second take on this layout, using a lot of Juno Designs stuff (mainly Sweet Summer Days and In the Summertime, but also a bit of Dessert and the Dessert add-on).
and here's the layout that inspired one of Sarah's templates:

Brynn Marie Dukes (aka BZB Designs) has some cute new stuff out today, a paper pack, a gorgeous kit, and a bonus alpha. Summer Sun (a paper pack) was previously part of an ES Grab Bag, so check your stash before buying, but it's great! If you ever need a red or orange paper, this is the paper pack for you. I used it to finally scrap one of my favorite photos from our honeymoon, of the pool at Red Rock. There's no one at the pool in my photo because it had just finished pouring down rain. DH and I had been walking around, exploring, and were out on a balcony overlooking the pool. I said it the whole time we were at Red Rock, and I still say it now, I LOVE the colors they chose when they designed the place. Gorgeous! Anyway, Brynn's paper pack, mixed with her August Kiss Templates and her Capture the Everyday Kit, AND the new bonus [wish.dream.fly] alpha let me finally scrap it the way I wanted.

I also made a lovely (if I say so myself) layout of my oldest DD...I love taking photos of her like this, so thoughtful and sweet...and this kit, [wish.dream.fly] was so perfect for it. It's so pretty and soft. AND it's only a DOLLAR today!!! holy cow!!!!

I'm also guesting for Juno Designs right now. I'm loving using her stuff, it's so pretty! I've used her two summer kits, Sweet Summer Days, and In the Summertime, on a couple of layouts now (including one of my above layouts for Sarah Bennett), and I just used her kit, Soft & Purty, for what is, at the moment, one of my favorite layouts. I love this photo of my sister and my DD. My sister was not having a great day, and I like to think that some time snuggling with her little neice was a bit of peace in the midst of a lot of stress. How stressed can you be holding a sleepy baby? Anyway, I did this for a Speed Scrap, and I love, love, love it.

Finally, just for fun, I made this layout with Chelle's Creations lovely kit, Half Moon Bay. I love how it turned out...I tried this background paper on a whim, fearing it would be too busy, and I just fell for it...

Hi there, y'all! I'm back with the promised CT layout post! Not too much today, but there will be more coming on Monday.

Today, I've got a layout I made for the Matter of Snap challenge at ScrapMatters (had to take a self-portrait), and I used all stuff by Chelle's Creations (there's a smidge of Juno Designs in there with the papers from the collab)...but the coolest part is Chelle's awesome new edged paper templates. They're from her new Cutting Edge template pack, recreating the look of favorite paper scrap scissors--the pack has big and small scallop edges, a deckle edge, victorian and colonial edges. Seriously, my summer has been a bit crazy lately, making my blogging much more sporadic than I would like. Ugh. I totally MEANT to be back on Monday...and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday...but, here I am, on Friday, finally back again.

So, last Friday, Chelle put Wild Oats, a fab collab with Sarah Bennett in her store at ScrapMatters. On Monday, Sarah put it in her store...here's the layout I created for her debut of the kit--My DD loooooves Old MacDonald and his farm full of animals, LOL.

And Sarah created a really cool add-on alpha for Wild Oats which is FREE on her blog!

Now, on to new-newness! Not as much this week...Chelle has put out a great little mini, perfect for some of your summer BBQ and grilling out pictures...my layout's not quite done yet (see above re: crazy week), but I'll come back and add it when it is...but I've got a LO by one of my CTmates... They all really rocked the mini in some fun ways, so if you wanna see, head to Chelle's blog!

Also being released to the public this week is last month's ScrapMatters newsletter freebie kit (seriously, if you're not signed up for the newsletter, you are really missing out!), by Chelle and Juno Designs (who I'm also CTing for right now...hmmm, this blog post may be longer than planned, LOL). If you didn't get the newsletter last month, you really need to go get this kit-it's gorgeous, bright and bold, and soooo full of goodies!

and I looove this layout by Fiona (canadianmommy)...it's actually a lift of one of mine, but I like hers so much better!

Speaking of Juno Designs...she's got this great, newish kit out, called "Dessert"...you can pick it up either at her store at SM or at ES...but if you go to ES, there is an awesome add-on for it! I used this fab kit for a Speed Scrap at SM last week.
I did that layout with a great template by DeCrow Designs--she gave out a coupon code last week to her store at ScrapOrchard, to try out one of her templates. I can promise you that as soon as I have money to spend on scrap supplies again, I am SO buying more of them! They have some really cool customized features, so even though they seem a bit pricey, you get your money's worth...

Oh, yeah...Sarah Bennett put out something new on Thursday, I almost forgot! She put out some awesome CU buttons (her first CU stuff!) at FPD this week...another thing I still need to try out! there're a few free ones on her blog right now too (and, hey, I already linked you to her blog up a bit...)

Last but not least...Amanda Heimann put out a super cute girly add-on for her Dog Gone Cute kit, it's really adorable! (sorry it's fuzzy, I'll try to be back later with a better image of it)

OH!!!! And before I go, don't forget, if you LOOOOOVE ScrapMatters like I LOOOOOOVE ScrapMatters, you may just want to get over there and apply for this:

I mean, really, FULL access to the store??? For doing 4 LO's a month, being active on site, a bit of bloggie work, and hosting a challenge or two??? This sounds like a job I would looooooooooooove. I'm so ridiculously excited right now...Kate Hadfield picked one of MY layouts to put up on Gallery Standouts today!!! I've NEVER had a layout up there, and I've looked at them sooo much recently, and ogled at the beauty and creativity that gets put up there on a daily basis...so to be included...yikes! Really made me feel great today! If you haven't visited the GSO Finger Pointing page, here's the link...they do this EVERY day, highlighting amazing layouts around the digi world, and I am soooo honored to be included!

BOTCT round 2 and a freebie!

hey there folks! Well, I'm back again! Another round of DSA's Battle of the Creative Teams has just ended, and we had quite a time with this round! For a round that should have been fairly easy, it really kicked out butts! But we created some cool layouts, and we're on to week three...that said, please go give a little vote for Bennett's Babes at DSA...

In case you weren't aware, the theme this week was a musical one...somehow, our layouts had to do with music. This was VERY challenging! We ended up using the Chorus of All You Need is Love by the Beatles as our theme. We titled our layouts according to the chorus of the song: "All you need is love, All you need is love, All you need is love, (LOVE), Love is all you need" I got the first line, and here's the layout I created. I also made a template of my page for you...so if you dig it, grab it (and go vote for us, pretty please!).

In other news and whatnot...I've been a bad CT member for Sarah...she released an AWESOME collab this week, with Valorie Brown Designs, and I've not stopped in to promote it! So, here I am! This kit is adorable, and just perfect for little boys (hence the name, In A Boy's World), but you could totally scrap a tomboyish little girl with it too (though I haven't yet). So, obviously, I never made it back here on Friday, and then we had a totally jam-packed weekend- we had my niece and brother-in-law's birthday parties on Saturday, and spent Sunday cleaning out and sorting through my parents basement with them...now we're prepping for a garage sale...oh, the fun!

Anyway, wanted to come back and finally show you Megan's kit, Rock On, and share some other news.

So, having two little girls at home with me all week and a yucky cold made me forget to come back and show y'all Megan's new stuff! And I don't have time right now, because it's just about dinner time, and dude (yeah, I said dude) I need to eat. And even more so, I think I need to find some caffeine. However...if I can keep my brain functioning long enough this evening, I WILL come back and share it--and my LO with it, which is sooo far from my norm, but I really dig it...

So, earlier this week, Sarah Bennett gave us (her CT) a pack of polka dotted paper, called "Seriously Spotted". She then went to work on another version, so we now had "Seriously Spotted 2". She made the mistake of mentioning maaaaybe doing an alpha, which was an idea we all loved...which ended up with her cutting apart and renaming over 5oo files this week! So, seriously, you all NEED to go buy some of these goodies. No joke, the alpha alone is totally worth WAAAAY more than the dollar it's selling for! You get upper and lower case of this alpha in 7 (yes, SEVEN) different colors. Not only that, but she did it both as a sticker alpha AND a plain alpha! So, seriously, you get FOURTEEN alphas for a DOLLAR. Seriously, where are you ever going to find a deal like that? If you know of one, you better leave me a comment with a link, because I'll need to check it out.

So, no joke, these papers and alphas are seriously amazing. Lovely, vibrant colors, soooo much fun! The team made some amazing pages with them, and I had so much fun creating layouts with them (by the way, the CT is doing our best to talk Sarah into now making elements to coordinate with these papers and alphas...it's just too cute not to...so keep your eyes open, though it may take a bit...she's got a lot in the works!).

Whew, I had a totally busy 4th of July weekend-but it was a lot of fun, too! However, it left me a bit behind on my blogging, so...here I am, back again!
Yesterday was new release day at Elemental Scraps, and Brynn Marie Dukes (BZB Designs) put out a few fun new things. First up is a couple of paper packs which coordinate with ES's July Color Play items (nice colors again this month, too!). Each month, Brynn puts out a great set of cardstock in the colors of the month, LOVE the texture on these, it's SO nice!

Also in these colors is her other new paper pack, Spots & Checks & Stripes...Oh My!

I LOVE all the colors in these packs, but I don't know what it is about Brynn's papers...They just inspire me to create monochromatic layouts--which I guess means I can get a ton of layouts out of these two paper packs, eh? Anyway, here's what I created with these two packs, and one of Brynn's June KISS templates. I totally love this layout, btw, all my DD's little face at the zoo (oh, and this uses Sarah Bennett's great, very versatile and easy-to-recolor Scribbly Alpha).

Also out this week are two new template packs, for cards and gift tags. I've already set up a card and gift tag (and I am so NOT a hybrid girl!), but haven't printed yet, so I'll post pics of them once I print them out. I also just started my guest stint for Amanda Heimann at Scrap Orchard-she's just released a fun alphabet, made with bunches of buttons, which I was able to recolor to several different shades for this layout (used a collab with Lauren Grier from last summer, which seems to be retired) about my DD's pigtails. Okay, so I've been slacking...so, here's the short (HAH!) version of the news from my scrap world. Brynn Dukes just had a brand new baby girl (CONGRATS, Brynn!), but she's still got some new goodness lined up to come out soon-be watching for the new AND maybe even a sale...nudge, nudge. I finished up my time guesting for Bree Clarkson at the beginning of the week. Her templates are so much fun to work with, I just wish I could have stayed longer! I was very complimented to be asked to guest for Rachelle of Chelle's Creations at ScrapMatters this month. I got to work with her cute new kit, Girl Power, last weekend. I can't wait to see what's on tap for this week! I'm also just starting my guest stint on Amanda Heimann's team at Scrap Orchard, looks to be fun! Megan Turnidge has been a bit distracted from designing by IRL stuff, so nothing new from her yet...she's promising something for next week though, so, keep your fingers crossed, everyone! And finally, Sarah Bennett has been a very BUSY designer, putting out a kit on Monday AND surprising the CT with another for today (previews to follow!). So, this will be another marathon post, with lots of layouts to share, and LOTS of amazing goodness I've gotten to work with recently!

I made this layout with some of BZB Designs stuff--2 paper packs (check me out and the Take Stock May Color Play pack)--and Sarah Bennett's Kinda Classy alpha (told you I'd use it soon-and I love how it looks, this alpha shadows really beautifully!). I also won the font challenge at FPD with this layout, woohoo! It's new release AND dollar day at Elemental Scraps today, which means great stuff from Brynn Dukes, aka BZB Designs!

Today's kits aren't new releases to those of you who followed the SYTYCDesign contest over at DSA, but in case you missed them, Brynn is offering her kits from that contest in her store starting today--they are so cute! I'll be honest, and admit that I didn't download them the first time around (of course, I only had about 3 GB of room on my hard drive, this was pre-EHD....so I didn't download a lot of things I wanted to from the contest...), but I am LOVING them now! So glad I got them! You can click on BZB Designs on the right hand side of my page to go to her store to pick them up for yourself--JUST A DOLLAR TODAY ONLY!!! Tomorrow, they'll be just as cute, but they'll be 3.99!!!

The other alpha is a fab acrylic dotted alpha, which you get in 6 colors--I used it in my green layout above, but I tweaked the green color just a bit. It's very cute!

New Stuff

Hey, hey, I'm back again!! Funky Playground Designs does new releases on Mondays and Thursdays, and Sarah Bennett's decided to stick with Thursdays as her release date--so look for me to be blogging about Sarah's amazing new designs on Thursdays!This week, she's got 2 super cute alphas, and a great set of boyish paper shapers (though I used them on a girly little page!).

Here are the previews:

First up is Kinda Classy, which looks to be really versatile, but I'll be honest and admit I haven't used it yet...but I'm really liking it, and you can look forward to a layout with it soon!

Then comes Kinda Glassy, which I *have* used (see the end of this post) and I really like it! I'm not usually as into disc/bubble/tile alphas because I never feel like I can really use them right, or that they look right on my page, but these are so much fun, with that glassy look, you can layer them over each other, and they just look CUTE! (or so I think!).
And finally, the paper cutting templates--so cute! This is "volume 1" because Sarah's working on a slightly more girly set (being a mom of 2 girls, I can't wait!), but this set is just darling too--and totally usable for girl pages! So many great shapes in here--frames, borders, and embellies--I used a TON of them in the layout I'll close this post with. They were a lot of fun to use, and got me using a bit more cut paper than I normally do, because, to be honest, I'm usually just too lazy to do it myself! Thanks for saving me the steps, Sarah!

Aren't they fantastic? And you can do so much with them! Alter the sizes, layer them, use just a little piece, or repeat them over and over on your layout...fantastic!

Anyway, here's my latest page, using TONS of Sarah's products! I've used her FPD contest and blog freebies, April Skies and Sweet Spring, and stuff from Worn Out Girl, Boat Ride, Cut it Out, and Kinda Glassy...whew! This page was a work of love (it's also a lift of a cute layout called "Miller Family" by Picklejuice7 at ScrapMatters--gotta give credit where it's due!). Anyway, you can check my SM gallery for complete credits and a link to the original layout.

Well, I told y'all there would be a new kit from Megan soon...I just couldn't tell you where! The big news is that Megan is now selling at Scrap Orchard (and if my links don't reflect that yet, they will soon!). She's got a great new collab out today, with Amanda Heimann--it's perfect for summer picnics, family get-togethers, and just fun summer layouts! It's called "Slice of Summer" and it's such a fab kit! I scrapped some photos of a get together we had with DH's family this past weekend. The first uses a template from ScrapMatters for their Tuesday Template challenge (seriously, they have great challenges at SM!), and the second uses one of Bree Clarkson's latest Solitaire Templates (#11, to be exact). I think they turned out pretty nice! First, I'll give you a preview of the kit-so cute!

Oh, and this kit and ALL of Megan's others (as well as pretty much everything else at SO) is 35% off for the next few days--so go get it!

In other CT news...I scrapped the above layout with Bree's template because it's my month to guest for her--woohoo! I've started out with Solitaire's 11 and 12, the above layout was Solitaire 12, and here's what I did with 11...

Well, tomorrow is Lost and Found Thursday at FPD! Definitely check it out, there are lots of great items on sale for $1 for ONE day only! Sarah's got a couple things those of us on the CT think are really great, so check them out...Sarah was afraid it was a trend that people were starting to get away from, but we all told her to go for it...and that we'd love to have them, haha! So I hope you do too, they're fab!

Also...I had totally missed a message at SSD about it being my month to guest for Bree Clarkson, so I'm getting off to a late start, but definitely better late than never! I'm so excited to get to use some of her templates, and to show them off here! I'm actually about to go dig through the others of hers I own and try to scrap something with Sarah's new goodies...

Oh, and I may have fibbed about stuff coming THIS week from Megan...sigh (I know, I know, I was hoping hard too!)...but I promise, great stuff is coming SOON!!!!!

New kit and a freebie

So, in my last post I was reminding you all about the great SYTYCDesign free kits...well, there's still great kits there, but Megan's non-digi life has gotten in the way of her finishing the competition. Isn't that sad? Swing by DSA though, and download her other kits if you haven't yet, and definitely leave her some love...

Cool News and TONS of Freebies!

So, I have this group of girls (why can I never say "women"? We're all grown-ups, with kids!), I've been scrapping with for about two years now, and they all impress me like crazy. Early this year, I was lucky enough to compete in the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race with one of them, my friend Sarah, aka Sarahtawisha. Well, Sarah is continuing to amaze me, because she entered and was one of the WINNERS of Funky Playground Designs recent Designer Contest.

What does that mean? It means she just debuted her line of digital scrapbooking supplies at Funky Playground Designs yesterday! And that means that Designs by Sarah Bennett should be your newest stop on your kit buying sprees! Her store is still small at the moment, but what's there is incredible. She's got a really pretty style, and will be making lots of kits to scrap all those moments you have with your kids (after all, she's got 2 little ones of her own). Her first kit, Boat Ride, is inspired by Nemo, which she's been watching non-stop with her kidlets. It's much softer in tone, and perfect for scrapping baby pictures, sleepy-time, the beach, boating, etc...

There is also a great alpha in her shop, sooo cute, and in several colors, including black, so that you can easily recolor it to meet your needs (how nice is that?).

Really, I am going to do a better job of keeping this up-to-date.

It's been a busy month; I'm still adjusting to having a newborn around the house again, though, in reality, she's now a month old! Time flies crazy fast, doesn't it?

I've been scrapping like mad with ScrapMatter's Queen of Scrap contest. I'm totally not out to win it, but it's gotten me scrapping, and I've made 21 layouts this month, which is the most I've done in a loooong time. Of course, not having to go to work helps with scrapping time, doesn't it?

Megan's been on an odd sort of designing break...she's not really taking a break, she's been designing like mad for the DigiScrapAddict's So You Think You Can Design contest, where she's in the next to last round. She's been making some gorgeous stuff for it, but at the same time, it's left her a bit less time and mojo to design things for her shoppe at SM. So, I've been scrapping with her DSA kits, and totally loving them. I'll post some pages at the end of this...Oh, and she's a Featured Designer in this month's Bella Scraps Magazine, and her gorgeous kit, Beach Bum, is FREE with the purchase of the mag this month...next month it'll be available in her store at SM. It's waaay cute, and my layout totally didn't do it justice.

In other news, I'm super excited that I got a guest spot with Juno at ScrapMatters for August and September. Whew, it's going to be a busy summer, but I'm so excited!

Well...here I am, trying this again. The old version of this blog was NOT well maintained, and I did a pretty crappy job with it. This is me admitting that. But...I'm giving it a go again, because I really WANT to do this and make it work!

Here's a bit about me-I'm 31, married, and a momma to two little girls now, ages 2 and almost 2 weeks. I teach full day, everyday kindergarten, but I'm on maternity leave for the rest of the school year. My biggest hobby is digital scrapbooking, and that's what this blog will mostly detail--my life as a scrapbooker!

I am a creative team member for the FAB Megan Turnidge at ScrapMatters, and have been for a while now. I love her designs, they're so vibrant and fun, I feel very lucky that she asked me to be on her CT, and that I get to stick around there!

I am looking forward to a couple of guest CT spots this summer, one with Bree Clarkson at SSD (love her templates!!!) and one with Amanda Heimann at Scrap Orchard (such cute designs!).

Anyway...my brilliant husband forgot his meds at home today, and needs me to take them to him at work...so I'd better feed the baby, get dressed, and head out to him...sigh...what a fun day!
